I knew a devotee that had epilepsy and he was almost ostracized from the devotee community he was living. Once he asked me that question and being a nice devotee as he was, I was very sad cause his major problem wasnt that one but being scared of being "haunted".
My answer was, of course, no you are not haunted, just ill.

Careful individual evaluation is needed. One thing is that ghosts take advantage of such ill persons and then its difficult to figure out what was first - a ghost or a disease. Again, jyotish (esp. prashna) is helpful.

I have heard epilepsy is a reaction of to much sexual violence in previous lives... (cannot give proper reference but it makes some sense to me...)

There is a devotee in Mumbai who can cure epilepsy with accupuncture. Takes him a year or two though of treatments every other day. He can do amazing things with accupuncture:

but what to do when it is because of ghosts? pills are not going to cure them.

One devotee went to that doctor because of ghost attacks as well. A devotee with reasonably good sadhana. The doctor said he would strengthen the bodys health and aura and it would help. After a few sessions the devotee said he felt much better and the ghost attacks were not coming. It depends on the bodys aura as well.

The hypnotherapists I talked to said they could help with ghost attacks to by going deep enough into the subconscious.

(is this too unscientific for anyone?)

In this episode they showed a person who can tell about anybody'92s past, present and future. He can tell about person'92s name, surname, native place, birth place, career, present salary, family member'92s names and age, addresses etc. without even knowing about him beforehand. He can tell all these in the first sight itself? How is it possible?

The answer is very simple. Our soul is a live recording video. The person who tells you the history has a soul (spirit) who helps them directly and indirectly. The spirit is a slave to a person who tells the history and the spirit has to act and work at a command of his master.

Talk to a hypnotherapist in the area. First check out the hypnotherapist and see how open minded they are and how well they do past life regressions. Some of the hypnotherapists are not that skilled and one of them told me I was going into trance (chanting Hare Krishna) just to avoid my problems. Anyway see if you can find a hypnotherapist who has a good mindset and see if they can do a regression. The devotee should be accompanied by someone in the session so that everyone is comfortable.

Listen this is my personal advice for a ghost problem. People may not agree with it and many will tell you to just chant Hare Krishna. But I quite frankly dont think chanting Hare Krishna is enough in such situations. I know temple devotees who chant 16 rounds and have serious obsessive compulsive disorders (many hours in the bathroom) and ghost attacks and they chant more serious than me I think. So see if you can find a good hypnotherapist.

Hypnosis is VERY powerful. Even we devotees have no idea of its power, but finding a good qualified one may take some work. See if they have done a past life regression training course from someone like Brian Weiss. Beware all the new age weirdos though.

They call ghost attacks "foreign entities" or "foreign spirits". For past life regression people it is VERY common. The therapist I learned from said that is the first order of business in a regression, to check for foreign entities, because the memories may be of the foreign spirit who is in the body.

I am owner of svarun.net webpage, I am just preparing new webpage. I started to do ghostbusting 10 years ago and in this time I was studying also under Sri Vaishnava expert from Melkote. Chanting certainly helps on the long term and purifies of all karma, but when situation is intense then you need to do specific puja for the person concerned. I cleaned many houses and people from ghosts with success. But my policy is to not try to make too much business out of this as it happened with one devotee. I take normal donation to cover expenses and use for pujas to purify the karma. As of now I did more then hundered pujas. Important is also to keep house clean- means no remnants arround, cleaning after eating, washing hands nicely, not touch things in contaminated state. I live in a house which used to be celthic and illiric graveyard. I got this information first in dream then confirmed with historical museum. As celthic people did also offering of people in the fire and other sacrifices of humans there were certainly so many ghosts. This was one of my big projects.:)))) To clean up this place.

About regresions one has to be careful no ghosts are there to influence. When I am doing regressions I am very careful not to see any ghost around. Chanting Hanuman and Narasimha mantras is always useful to be protected from ghosts.

And Prabhu can you do remote cleansing of houses or people?

Sure, there is posibility to do remote cleaning. Sometimes pictures is helpful otherwise only information about the place means house number, street and place is also enough. Then I can see what is there and how much is needed to clean.

Yes, for example there is one person coming to our temple. He used to have such problems my Godness. In the lecture the face was laughing, making faces he was not even aware what is happening. The doctors said he has diseases from schizophrenia, paranoia and some more. All of highest grade. At the moment I am in contact with one Mataji from Europe which has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and its cause was voodoo made by her previous boyfriend. Only in start she feels much better. Her doctor only said she should check if she has ghosts or some magic. I doubt some doctor in Slovenia would say such a thing. Here this doctors are too orthodox and puffed up of knowledge.

Be careful in some cases the chanting accentuates the symptoms and it is not recommended like japa rounds, etc Prasadam is the main course of action there.

Schizophrenia and epilepsy are serious medical conditions that can be effectively controlled with medication. There is nothing in any spiritual text that precludes the sick from taking advantage of modern medicine.

When I worked at the state psych hospital many years ago I heard about an interesting case. There was a lady with schizophrenia who believed she was possessed by a ghost. The caregivers thought it would be fun to pretend that they were "spiritual healers" so they did an "exorcism" on her when she was taking a bath. The told her the ghosts went down the drain because of her "spiritual exorcism bath" . The caregivers were shocked that this lady truly believed she was "cured" and in fact she did leave the hospital shortly after that bath.

Cant remember about the last one. Depends how you remove them - either they go elsewhere or they can get another material body (which is obviously better for them).
