One time I heard about a person that gave up everything and went to the Andes in a very remote and secluded place.A very unusual visitor backpacker passed by and lend him Bhagavad Gita as it is, recently given by a sankirtan devotee, and he became devotee, went down to civilization and became a preacher. sorry not to have more details, but that is what I can recall.
