Why is Krishna a male?

This question looks easy but it is not so clear for the feminist that asked it the other day in sankirtan.

SP also said that women are on the level of jungle men, or wild people, meaning aborigines. He warned that women generally cannot go to a very
high level of consciousness, so he warned that though their words may be
sweet, their hearts are very hard. This of course, is from sastra. SP many
times warned against association with women. In CB he gave a ten page
purport on big sized pages, about the dangers of associating with those who
are attached to women. This was the purport to the Bengali verse, "muni
gana dustha sanga kori nanandan(?)" In this long purport SP gives so many
quotes from scriptures warning about the dangers of associating with
women.

This concept of male and female is interesting. In the material it exist for the purpose of procreation. But for what purpose does it exist in the spiritual
world. And really why is Sri Krsna a male. Cant He not be both a male and
a female.

The supreme is both male and female ie Lord Chaitanya. Krsnas internal aspect or energy is...
SriMata Radharani is supreme!
Why did u not tell the femenist person that truth?
Vishnu Tattva.

I would inquire of her if she thought there is something bad/wrong/off with Krishna being male, and ask her to provide some reasoning why she thinks so. I think that should clarify her position and make it easier to respond to.[br]
[br]Also, from the Introduction to the BG:[br][br]
What is material nature? This is also explained in Guc0u299 tu257 as inferior prakru803 ti, inferior nature. The living entity is explained as the superior prakru803 ti. Prakru803 ti is always under control, whether inferior or superior. Prakru803 ti is female, and she is controlled by the Lord just as the activities of a wife are controlled by the husband. Prakru803 ti is always subordinate, predominated by the Lord, who is the predominator. The living entities and material nature are both predominated, controlled by the Supreme Lord. According to the Gu299 tu257 , the living entities, although parts and parcels of the Supreme Lord, are to be considered prakru803 ti.[br][br]
And another passage from the Bhagavatam:[br][br]
There are many examples of a woman whose husband, being dependent on the result of his own fruitive actions, cannot maintain his wife, her children, her wealth or her duration of life. Therefore, factually the only real husband of all women is Kru803 su803 nu803 a, the supreme husband. Because the gopu299 s were liberated souls, they understood this fact. Therefore they rejected their material husbands and accepted Kru803 su803 nu803 a as their real husband. Kru803 su803 nu803 a is the real husband not only of the gopu299 s, but of every living entity. Everyone should perfectly understand that Kru803 su803 nu803 a is the real husband of all living entities, who are described in the Bhagavad-gu299 tu257 as prakru803 ti (female), not purusu803 a (male). Krishna is not male or female. He is not material full stop, we can not apply these concepts on God.user [265] · 2010-04-19

It really goes into the definition of male and female energies. The male energy is the energy which takes the lead (initiative) in the creative process, and the female energy is the one which makes it happen. There is never one without another, just like there are always two poles of a magnet.

Actually Srila Bhaktisiddanta saraswati takura reffers to krishna as the supreme Autocratic male in his Brahma samhita!Srila AC Bhaktivedanta swami comments that the success of a marriage is when the wife is enjoyed by the husband.Which might lead us to appreciate that one is enjoyed.....while the other is the enjoyed!
However the original ...adhi-purusa....krishna, is the supreme enjoyer. Hence the initial enjoyer is naturally considered male or the purusa! While the prakriti.....is understood as female, that which is meant to be enjoyed by krishna. This is the natural spiritual rasa......hence there is spiritual enjoyment. We however are always to be enjoyed by krishna!
user [548] · 2010-04-20
the third line should read.....which might lead us to appreciate that one is enjoyed...while the other is the enjoyer!....[not the enjoyed]..the rest is correct!user [38] · 2010-04-20
SGD, how many accounts will you open?Recently Ive been meditating on this verse (the meaning of klim bija):
ka-karah purusah krsnah
sac-cid-ananda-vigrahah
i-karah prakrti radha
nitya-vrndavanesvari
las canandatmakam prema-
sukham tayos ca kirtitam
cumbananda-madhuryam
nada-binduh samiritah
K is Krsna with His personal form of eternity, knowledge and bliss. I is His energy Radha, who is the eternal Queen of Vrndavana. L is celebrated as the blissful happiness of love. M is the sweetness of the bliss occurring when They kiss. (Brhad-gautamiya-tantra)

[quote][cite] borokrsnadasa:[/cite]Krishna is not male or female. Absolute Gender?
Just like God is not material person but he is not impersonal either. We r not mayavadi, there is transcendental varigatedness. Actually gender in this world is the shadow reflection of original absolute gender. Everything is contained in the supreme! Wonderful! It is Like that, isnt it?

Lord Caitanya is not a combination of male and female. He is male (purusa) that came in his own form, male, in a mood of a prakuc0u7771 ti (Radha), this is how one should understand that he is non-different from Radha Krishna, not that he is just a mixup of the two, in his purport to CC Madhya 8.282 Prabhupada says that "Ru257 dhu257 -Ku7771 u7779 u7751 a is Ku7771 u7779 u7751 a and Ku7771 u7779 u7751 a'92s pleasure potency combined. When Ku7771 u7779 u7751 a exhibits His pleasure potency, He appears to be two'97Ru257 dhu257 and Ku7771 u7779 u7751 a. Otherwise, Ru257 dhu257 and Ku7771 u7779 u7751 a are one. This oneness may be perceived by advanced devotees through the grace of u346 ru299 Caitanya Mahu257 prabhu. This was the case with Ru257 mu257 nanda Ru257 ya. One may aspire to attain such a position, but one should not try to imitate the mahu257 -bhu257 gavata." However to think of God as just male or female is application of material perverted conception on someone who is always above the duality.Otherwise we should understand the fullness of purusa concept.
Srila Prabhupada:
"{T}he word puruu7779 am is very significant. The Lord is never female. He is always male (puruu7779 a). Therefore the impersonalist who imagines the Lords form as that of a woman is mistaken. The Lord appears in female form if necessary, but His perpetual form is puruu7779 a because He is originally male." SB 4.8

Yes, Ruc0u257 dhu257 and Ku7771 u7779 u7751 a are one. Vishnu-tattva. God.user [503] · 2010-04-21
Of course Krsna is not female. Srimata Radharani is though,Absolutely!user [467] · 2010-04-21
Why is Krishna a male? Because He wants to be! Krishna can be and do whatever He wants because He is God. He can be a fish, a tortoise, a horse, a half lion half man, smaller than the smallest, larger than the largest, a cowherd boy, a prince, a warrior, a golden volcano of love in the mood of Radharani ... He is Isvara -- the Supreme Controller of everything. He is the Reservoir of all pleasure, the source of all beauty and love, the fountainhead of all material and spiritual energy and the seed giving father of all living entities. Why is Krishna a male? Read Srila Prabhupadas books and you will know everything there is to know.user [22] · 2010-04-29
i think what he says is why krsna`s original form is male ... and that her thinking about God is that was neither male nor female ...
