I guess you better learn to spell before you put questions like that. Just a suggestion so that people will take you seriously in the future. There is a difference between puranic and jotish system, so here you go.
[cite] VEDA:[/cite]Its not a question, its opinion. Let everyone judge for himself how qualified one.
it is a question how is mine an opnion jyothisya shatra is an upaveda and it is the science which tells abt the planets stars moon is a planet (graha) and not star this proves prabhupad hs no knowledge of jyothis shastra
user [170] · 2010-04-26
Upaveda means material science associated with a particular veda, such as grammar, jyotish, aurveda, stapatisastra. You must be fool to think that an acarya should be conversant with aurveda? What is he doctor or something? As foolish as to suggest that just because in jyotish it is called graha it is not one of the stars in the puranic view. However if you examine this statement of the purport by Srila Prabhupada you will understand that any luminary can be called star (from puranic perspective) and at the same time be called a graha or a planet: "The superintendance of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the moon, the sun and other big planets they are moving". Besides as veda has pointed out, you seem unable to grammatically compose your sentences to form a question. I suggest you must be still in a 5th or 6th grade in this case or have a poor educational background, certainly not enough to challenge or even to comprehend properly it seems. Take care.

I currently studying 13th and 14th chapters of the Gita and last week I heard this.
"Each and every star means they are different planetary system" http://bit.ly/byOFCg 1974/06/06 Geneva, Bhagavad-gita 13.35 -Prabhupada

Drutakarma Prabhu speaking about the topic of suns and stars a few weeks ago in Los Angeles discussed the point that we have to listen to all the statements of Srila Prabhupada on such subjects and see them as a whole.

For example it is stated.

"It appears from this verse that the moon is one of the stars; therefore the stars that twinkle in the sky also reflect the light of the sun. The theory that there are many suns within the universe is not accepted by Vedic literature. The sun is one, and as by the reflection of the sun the moon illuminates, so also do the stars. Since Bhagavad-guc0u299 tu257 indicates herein that the moon is one of the stars, the twinkling stars are not suns but are similar to the moon."

however it is also stated

"Srimad Bhagavatam 5.20.13 Purport
From the descriptions in this verse, we can make an educated guess about the nature of the flames on the moon. Like the sun, the moon must also be full of flames because without flames there cannot be illumination. The flames on the moon, however, unlike those on the sun, must be mild and pleasing. This is our conviction. The modern theory that the moon is full of dust is not accepted in the verses of Srimad-Bhagavatam. In regard to this verse, Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura says, susaspani sukomala-sikhas tesam rocisa: the kusa grass illuminates all directions, but its flames are very mild and pleasing. This gives some idea of the flames existing on the moon."

TRANSLATION

The sun who is the king of all the planets, full of infinite effulgence, the image of the good soul, is as the eye of this world. I adore the primeval Lord Govinda in pursuance of whose order the sun performs his journey mounting the wheel of time."

His conclusion is was, "like a fleet a ships, all may be similar in body, but there is one command ship, raja samasta, from whom others derive their power, so similar, there is one Raja Samasta sun and other illuminaries derive their power from him."

he also mentioned:
And where does the sun gets its power? from Krishna

Is there any innate power in a light bulb, but due to being connect to the electrical current of the house it has the ability to produce light."

> according to prabhupada moon is a star

Not according to Prabhupada. According to Krishna; i.e "....and among the stars I am the moon."

Is Krishna also showing His ignorance of his ignorance of upavedas?

According to Sly and the Family Stone "Everybody is a Star"

What a brilliant way to spend ones time ... to go through the teachings of a saintly personality who selflessly brought enlightenment, happiness, hope and joy to so many .. and in a public internet forum announce that you have found proof of his ignorance. I cant even imagine the heart and mind of such a person. Its frightening to know that such people exist.

All glories to His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada!

FIRST... you yourself must demonstrate such an equipoised attitude before you start expecting it from others for your benefit. ------------------ To those who show no respect for others, no respect should be shown.

Refrain from offensive statements about Srila Prabhupada or you will be removed.
user [149] · 2010-04-27
Cool down guys, put down your swords.

There is no evidence I am aware of that Srila Prabhupada closely studied or was expert in Jyotir-sastra and it is generally accepted that Prabhupada did not demonstrate any particular expertise in Jyotirsastra. Its perfectly reasonable to say that he was not expert in it. Why would it be offensive to say so?

True, CGYOOMH has extremely very poor form and is very disrespectful in his style, but he has only made the statement that Srila Prabhupada was not knowledgeable in Jyotirsastra based on the purport to Gita 10.21. So lets put away our ever-ready offender statements and administrative swords and try and focus on the question.

CGYOOMH, what is your question exactly? Are you trying to prove that Srila Prabhupada was not expert in Jyotirsastra? You can easily make your point without being so brash and distasteful. Given your claim that Srila Prabhupada was not expert in Jyotirsastra, as is etiquette when attempting to defeat an opposing position, can you please announce your scholarly lineage, experience and time spent in studying Jyotirsastra?
user [467] · 2010-04-27
deena -- Very nice that you are so liberal and broad minded. As for myself -- its not what he asked but how he asked it. Actually he didnt really even ask a question. If anything it was a rhetorical question, the gist of which was to proclaim Srila Prabhupada as being ignorant. Ignorant of what or why or when or how is secondary. There was no slip of the tongue (or keyboard) going on and its not just a matter of bad form. Why the knee jerk reaction to defend? Because it was obvious that there was an offense made which merited a quick and passionate defense. Why should this persons question be taken seriously when asked in such an offensive manner. Let him understand and realize that his words tore into the hearts of those who feel a deep love, respect and gratitude for His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada and unless and until he shows some genuine remorse I personally have no use for his question about Jyotirsastra or Peter Pan or the Man in the Moon Star. This website isnt a forum to have discussions about what Prabhupada knew or didnt know --- its to answer questions based on the teachings of Srila Prabhupada which are accepted as transcendental to the four defects of the conditioned soul. In that way the environment is perhaps dogmatic because in all discussions, questions and answers Prabhupada is accepted as the ultimate authority. If one wants to question the validity of his authority on any subject or in general -- there are other websites for that such as Gaudiya Repercussions.

> Actually he didnt really even ask a question

yes, which gave away his motive away from the start.

> If somebody enters into my home and right off the bat makes some derogatory statement about or suggests some negative connotation toward one of my family

My instinct, even if it was obvious that the person was disturbed, would be to first try and calm him down, get some sense out of him and then try and address his point. Of course if that fails then removal, voluntarily or involuntarily, is certain.

this is not even a question and it will be deleted if not further arguments. As for CGYOOMH, either he comes with the spirit of pariprashnena as clearly stated in our forum rules or there is no point on having him here.
