That will depend on the situation, the person one is preaching to and a kind of devotee who preaches. Ideally you will preach in a situation where person is anxious to hear about God, is qualified to hear and the devotee is at least a madhyama-adhikari, who can see who is qualified and how to present the message of Krishna, krishna-upadesha. Ultimately personal example is better than precept, and thus in places where you have charismatic or attractive communities and leadership you will see successful transmission of krishna-upadesha and more souls are connected and are put on the path back to Godhead.

Hare Krishna. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

"They are not calling you, "I am suffering, please come", but it is your business to go and let them know that, "You are suffering. You take this method."
That is the way of being vey quickly recognized by Krishna...Whether one man is converted or not converted, that is not our business. We shall try our best. But Krishna must see that i am giving service to Krishna, that is all..Not that you have to judge that you have approached so many men; nobody became Krishna conscious.

"Whomever you meet, you give him, you inform him the instruction of Krishna. Caitanya Mahaprabhu never said that "You see that he has actually become Krishna conscious." Never says, You simply say and go and say--that is your business. It is not that you have to see that he has become Krishna consciousness."

Just like when i came to your country, i never expected any success because i knew, "As soon as i will say No illicit sex, no meat-eating," they will reject me immeidately (laughter) So i was not hopeful at all.

We are meant to eagerly spread the message of Lord Chaitanya to whomever will hear it by repeating the words of our Founder Acharya. The rest is done and decided by the Lord.We pray every day to be engaged as Their instruments and They reciprocate by arranging the opportunities for our service. To answer in short..nothing is expected of people. It is only expected of us to take the full advantage of the opportunities as they present themselves for our benefit and the benefit of the living entities.
