Hare vs Hore

Philosophy · asked by user [] · 2010-08-03 · 1 answers
In sasnkrit are the words "hare" (as in Maha Mantra) same as "hore" ?

I am listening to some older recordings and even senior devotes using ing "Hore" as the first word and "Ramu" instead of "Rama".

Did Srila Prabhupada have any guidance or did he ever correct his disciples ?

It should be [huc0u601 ] as the first sound in non-stressed word until [u601 n u712 tu618 l] (not when it sounds u712 u652 n tu601 l) (so it is not any of these vowels: u594 'e6 u593 u720 u596 u720 ). (Guide of BBT says : The short vowel a is pronounced like the u in but/ but there are so many ways to pronounce the word but..) but you should make sure you do not pronounce it as if it was a long A (as in RAma) there the sound is different, ru593 u720 the sound a in the end of Rama is a short u601 . (if you do not know what these funny letters mean see: http://www.antimoon.com/how/pronunc-soundsipa.htm)
