Well, I know there are descriptions of hells etc... You may read that also from last chapter of SrimadBhagavatam canto 5. So you can know that hells are real... However devotee is not afraid so he may go to hell. knowing that Yamaraja is demigod of death and devotee of Krishna-Vishnu. Idea is to serve devotees and Vishnu-Krishna everywhere even in hell. But of course Srimad-Bhagavatam is most important Purana of all other puranas... Narada Muni came to Vyasa and said - you wrote all Vedas but unhappy - because you didnt say about Krishna consciousness, devotional service, bhakti, to Bhagavan, Supreme Personality of Godhead... So Vyasa wrote Bhagavatam, and then he became happy. All Vedas are important, but Bhagavatam is explaination on essense of all Vedas, Vedanta... Well, devotees can give that all essence - in person. on Internet it is much harder... Sadhu-sangha is necessary...Some people may be scared of hells described then ask: So, how can we avoid that? Answer - take to Krishna consciousness...
Well, even Prabhupada said to some people, who said that they eat meat - well, you may become tiger in next life...
So we should be serious in Krishna consciousness... We have this human life, so dont waste it...
