Tulsi for Krishna?

Philosophy · asked by user [] · 2010-10-25 · 8 answers
Hare Krishna
Lord Vishnu is considered to be lower than Krishna. Tulsi lila is related to Lord Vishnu. So why then do we offer tulsi to Lord Krishna if Vishnu lila is considered to be aisvarya- or in awe and reverence?

Sri Visnu isnt lower than Krsna. Theyre the same tattva, only their bhavas differ (aisvarya vs. madhurya).
Tulasi lila is related to both: http://www.vrindavan-dham.com/vrinda/tulasi-story.php

Hare Krishna
Thanks for the reply. another question- Is the Laddu Gopal deity a bona fide deity within ISKCON and if not why? At deity courses held in temples the instructors are saying that Gopal is not really an ISKCON deity. Personally many people have him in their homes.

Afaik, its a murti meant esp. for kids. Ask for details at http://deityworship.com

Afaik? okay thanks prabbhu, generally people worship Him to start of or practice deity worship. The point I dont see is how can we differ between forms of Krishna, why should there be a difference.

Every murti is an individual personality, yet the same Lord. Acintya bhedabheda.

Vrndavan is completely under the control of Vrnda Devi (Tulasi) Even being allowed into Vrindavana dhama indicates that one has received some mercy from Vrinda devi.

Once Srimati Radharani was so pleased by the service of Vrinda devi that with the help of the other gopis she arranged a magnificent throne and had Krishna and Vrinda devi sit on it. Lalita sakhi acting as the priest recited the mantras and performed the marriage cermony of Krishna and Vrinda devi. Thus by the mercy of Srimati Radharani, Vrinda devi got Krishna.

That reminds me when I first joined Iskcon one of my first services was to care of Tulasi Devi, a complete greenhouse with about 100 Tulasis...Now I realize why I got to visit Vrndavan so many times. Jai Vrnda Devi....

Vrnda Devi appeared thousands of years before Krishna and received a benediction from Lord Vishnu after performing penances, she established Vrndavan before Krishna appeared in it. Vrndavan is named after her.

In the tulasi pranama "Vrindayai tulsi devyai priyai" I have heard some devotees say "Vishnu Bhakti" while others say "Krishna bhakti". - which is right ? Does it matter ?

From the above it seems that both are ok. If you compare search hits, Krsna/Krishna version wins. :)
