Devotee of Krishna

Philosophy · asked by user [] · 2007-08-08 · 6 answers
Does anyone know the answer to this question?
"Who is the greatest devotee of Krishna who did the ultimate sacrifice of offering his/her life spontaneously.......(without any force or helplessness), for the pleasure of Krishna?" In Dvaparayuga particularly.
A devotee asked me this question but we didnt manage to get around to the answer....so anyone?

Some of the gopis actually left their bodies before being able to join rasa lila. If a specific person in Krsna lila is meant, I cant remember him/her. Unless it is a veiled reference to Swami Jesus. ;)

First I tought Radharani but did she give up her body?
user [38] · 2007-08-08
No. This refers to some lower-level gopis. Dont ask me for an exact reference but the writings of Visvanatha Cakravarti usually deal with these esoteric topics.

Yes, I heard in my Guru Maharajas class once that when Krishna started playing His flute to call the Gopis for rasa-lila, they all abandoned whatever they were doing (cooking, feeding babies, dressing and decorating themselves) and ran to the forest. Some of them, who were not able to get out of their houses as they were locked inside by their husbands, gave up their bodies.
