It might sound pretentious, especially in comparison with the above comments, but believe it or not - book distribution! I was doing it for about 9 months before I went for bhakta-programme in a bigger temple and my main service became peeling vegetables for devotees lunch... Talk about a blow to the false ego lol!!

I think cleaning the temple room and cutting some branches in the garden.

I cooked for Krsna at home for long time before doing any service at the temple and I used to distribute it to my friends, at work... :)

Pick flowers for the garlands of Sri Sri Radha Krishna. I was just 5 years old and they didnt let me do anything else.

If it means service at the temple............i washed pots and polished Srila Prabhupadas Vyasasana.

... Pick up roses in the public park for aratika plates + chant 25 rounds as my first day was on Ekadasi and nobody was thinking I was able to become a devotee... they were quite right, even if I chanted all of them !

I joined the bhakta program and we had to help out with the feast for hundreds of guests and devotees and the head of the kitchen would always make some sort of preparation that took hours of work such as dumping boxes of sandy spinach into garbage cans of water and then telling us to pick out the leaves on at a time and make sure there was no sand on them, wash them three times, pull out the stalks or stems and bad pieces to the leaves, then finally chop them up for the subji. And that was just part of one preparation.
