Ghost Katha

I know it is not good to talk about "them" but I would like to hear some stories and advices regarding "them".
In my experience in India they are much heavier (they attacked me more) than in the west.
user [2] · 2007-08-12
everybody should know the basics about "them". Ignorance causes fear.

Is it possible at all for them to enter a large temple, where many devotees live in ashrama, the Lord himself resides in the form of deities, and the Holy Name is chanted constantly? I had a very unusual experience once when I took a nap during brahma-muhurta (hehe). I was lying down on the bed in ashrama, which was part of the temple building and situated directly above the temple room (has been changed since then, now the deities are on the top floor). While sleeping I started having very unusual nightmares, it felt as if someone was trying to scare me on purpose. I am not going into more details here as some people may not appreciate. Every time that would happen (several times in very short time) I would mentally chant Hare Krishna, and the nightmare would stop for a short while. I also experienced extreme difficulty in waking and using the muscles of my body. I wasnt able to open my eyes, could hardly move my hands and tongue. I wish someone would come and throw some cold water in my face then, maybe it would help :) Instead a friend sat at my bed and chanted rounds while I was sleeping. I am not sure what it was and why it was, but it felt like some subtle being was attacking. Spooky... :D

Ghosts are attracted by those who are situated in tama-guna, those who are unclean or intoxicated (or those who sleep during brahma-muhurta instead of chanting Hare Krishna ;) Following four regulative principles, keeping yourself clean and focused on Krishna ahould be sufficient to keep them away. Also, I am sure that everyone heard that chanting Hare Krishna scares them away. They also dont like the smell of insense, sound of bell ringing, and currents of fresh air. Not sure where I heard the last one.

I love the spell-checker!

> Also, I am sure that everyone heard that chanting Hare Krishna scares them away.
That is not true because some are attracted to the chanting.

On another occasion a friend of mine was sleeping during dawn and a ghost started attacking him. He started chanting and the ghost said to him: it will not work!!! The devotee got so scared that he screamed Krsna!!! and woke up.

Once when I was 12 y/o. My mom went on a business trip and my grandma was there to babysit my sister and me. So I was sleeping in my moms bedroom, my grandma in the room next to mine. And my sister in the room next to that of my grandma.

I was sleeping; fast asleep. Now I wake up. I feel something is not right and I hear my heart beating very hard. Then I felt that someone was standing next to my bed and was looking at me. So slowly I turn around and I see a shape of a human. But it wasnt. I was black and had red eyes. I dont know why but I kept looking at it and got so much fear in me. And I screamed in myself: Im not scared!!!
Then it just turned around and went in the corner where there was a dressing table. It started to do something and I heard the bottles and other things being moved aside. So I thought maybe its my grandma or my sister. So I called: Grandma is it you? And I called to my sister. But it just stood up after a little while and started walking towards the door. Before it was gone it looked towards me one last time and then it was gone. Stupid me went after it. I wanted to protect my sister and my grandma. So now I went into the living room. I turned on the light but there was nothing. And I checked everything, the bathroom and the bedrooms the kitchen. But nothing. So I drank some water and tried to go to sleep again.

My mom said to not talk about it because youll attract them then. But some people dont believe in the supernatural. But its amazing once you see it...

Creepy...

I always wondered how that works? They see some kind of waves when you speak about them or what? Even if you think about them they know about it!
user [2] · 2007-08-13
you are tuning in the "frequency", it is the universal law of attraction
user [78] · 2007-08-13
cool:)

That is certainly true for those ones who are devotionally inclined :) I am pretty sure chanting Hare Krishna was Srila Prabhupadas instruction in dealing with ghosts,I just cant find the reference. Maybe someone could provide a quote for this? Meanwhile I found the following, which explains nicely why our chanting may not be effective:

"Many experienced groups believe that there are evil spirits in many areas such as cemeteries and by saying a 10 second prayer you can safely go about your business without worrying about them. An experienced demonologist will tell you that by doing this in the name of God or whatever good Deity you worship, you will keep any "non human spirits" at bay since they have to leave you alone when told so in this manner. You will not provoke an attack by doing this and I say its just as simple as saying your prayers at night. My personal experience is that it takes a little more than a solitary 10 second prayer to keep at distance a ghost. Rather, supposing that you have to go into such places, the best method is the chanting the Holy names, the Hare Krishna mahamantra. The chanting done in this way is very effective. To purify a place the loud congregational chanting accompanied with mridanga drums and kartal hand cymbles is very potent when done with great attention. On a personal basis too, the concentrated chanting of Japa on beads is also very effective, the mantra being non-different from the Lord. However, and this is no defect on the part of the mantra, depending on the attentiveness of the sadhaka (chanter) the effect can be greater or lesser, just as proprtionately one takes shelter of the suddha naam (pure Holy Name)."

One time we had a case of a devotee that died drown without him being conscious (will not explain details as for deference and respect).

In the days after he passed away, devotees where seeing and hearing things around the house of the demised devotee.

So a group of devotees went to the house and did a nice kirtan, after I was commisioned to explain aloud to the soul that he passed away and he should continue his path.

Seems like the devotee soul was not understanding what happened and was still around the house.

After that, no more signs, so we suppose he continued his journey in devotional service, somewhere.

and what about OUIJA? Did anyone try it?

I did and it works! We started asking questions about the future and the ghost got angry and said that "why so many tests". After a while he said he was going to get inside me because I was being offensive and I said that I didnt care. Well, maybe he got inside me but I didnt notice... :)
user [38] · 2007-08-14
Ive seen many accounts agreeing that ouija is potentially dangerous. Why does one need to consult a ghost? While some entities may tell the past, they dont know the future. Its a tamasic business.
user [17] · 2007-08-14
I have seen people with the nerves totally broken due to medium activities. It is dangerous stuff.
user [78] · 2007-08-14
If anyone sees or talks to a ghost again please ggive him this message for me: Chant and be happy!
:D
user [12] · 2007-08-14
Even the karmis say DONT PLAY WITH OUIJA. People who are into paranormal warn against it.

A useful technique is to ask your own subconscious. You can do this with a pendulum. Draw a line up-and-down for yes, left-to-right for no and then see which way the pendulum goes, vertically or horizontally, it shows what your subconscious mind is directing. I guess it is like kinesiology. That is another good way to tell something. Someone can ask you a question and your body responds from the subconscious as to yes or no.
user [2] · 2007-08-15
Kinesiology is not about asking your subconscious, Amala Prabhuji. It has a scientific basis. See here the wonderful works of Dr Hawkins:

I recommend everybody Power vs Force book. It is truly amazing. I have done so many successful tests, I can start a thread on my own...:)

they attacked me last night... again!!! grrrr
user [2] · 2007-08-15
shina, do this:

- put some carbon under the bed in a plate
- some scissors or pointy stuff near the bed
- a glass of water near the bed, discard in the morning
- draw wtih tilak the name of Rama, Sri Rama in the window glasses of the room

That should do the trick
user [19] · 2007-08-15
I did the tilak thing on a friends house and it worked!
Before it was a discotheque of ghosts every night and now it is normal.
