Not just a sannyasi but every disciple has a traditional right to initiate after disappearance of his guru. Is that what you ask about?user [75] · 2007-08-14
as far as i understand not all gurus in the disciplic succession appear in the parampara-list you find in bhagavad-gita, only outstanding ones. i know that life-span deceases with proceeding yugas, but there were other gurus inbetween those listed.i have no idea if any of the present gurus after SP will be listed in BGs in a few hundred years; only time will tell.
if youre asking if they are bona fide, real gurus, that depends if they fulfill SPs requirement: be a transparent medium for their own gurus message and follow the principles.

In the front of your Bhagavad-gita a name will appear under the name of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. It may be your name, it may be the name of someone who acted as your substantial connection to the lineage. Its a siksa or bhagavat-parampara, not a diksa parampara - an idea coined by Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura.user [6] · 2007-08-15

No, just the opposite. They say no SP disciple can initiate, only SP can.

oh, thats what I meant. Sorry I didnt express myself correctly.user [75] · 2007-08-15
oops, put my thanks on the wrong post. what i wanted to thank abhiram for was the idea to put the GBC as no. 33 in our bhagavat-parampara ...ys phani.
user [2] · 2007-08-15
sounds weird, GBC is managerial and philosophical fallible body, are we downgrading the parampara?user [24] · 2007-08-15
GBC sure beats a mindless personality cult based on someone less than Srila Prabhupada. In other words - its either GBC or village idiocy.user [75] · 2007-08-15
i didnt take the suggestion of putting "the GBC" into the parampara seriously. in fact and reality, at present it seems to act in that way. only with hindsight devotees in the future will be able to put actual names into that parampara-list. it wouldnt surprise me if none of todays ISKCON or gaudiya-math chiefs would be found among them. were too busy struggling with immediate crisis and emergencies to think for or about the parampara as a whole, im afraid.
ys phani.
PS: i think one comment from abhiram pr. went into the wrong thread:
> yes but what photo will you put on the altar? :)
how about this one? (attached)
