that is why the question is "should be"... TPs take notes please... thank youuser [24] · 2007-08-17
"Which should be the first priority for a temple president?"- that hes practicing sadhana and trying to follow Srila Prabhupadas directions with a humble heart.

reminding himself every single day.... "I am servant, I am a servant, I am a servant" Easy to forget, you know.user [19] · 2007-08-18

He might think that he is doing that and at the same time be money conscious while devotees feel dissapointed.

hmmm....maybe bit stupid question, but do u think it is OK to be instructed by the strategy of non iskcon guru? thanks.user [38] · 2007-08-18
Use the useful strategy is expected.user [13] · 2007-08-18
1. take care of his health2. take care of his sadhana
3. take care of his immediate family
4. take care of his extended family
A TP doesnt have to try to be Lord Brahma. He should develop a team of people and develop the people on that team, and encourage them to do the same in turn. In this way the yatra becomes based on teamwork and people development.

I think that is the natural tendency anyway, no need to push anyone on that.
Of course, a sane man will do all this, but a mahatma will certainly do more on top.
user [75] · 2007-08-18
natural tendency, yes. but there has been a time, and what i hear from some places, still is, where service was pushed above care for devotees health & wellbeing, and above concern for their families.user [2] · 2007-08-18
I lived that period, but that is gone, now we seem to be at the other side of the pendulum mainlyuser [40] · 2007-08-18
This would be a challenging job for most people.user [19] · 2007-08-19

but maybe this could degrade into "I care about my stuff/familyand screw everyone else"
user [13] · 2007-08-19
In which case hes not capable of performing the service of TP, either because he simply cant (lots of people are overwhelmed just looking after themselves, what to speak of their family), or because he doesnt want to.Anything can degrade into something else, but if a devotee doesnt take care of things in this order, sooner or later everything will come unraveled.
