My cellphone has an mp3 alarm clock installed on it. I put it at a distance from my bed so that to turn it off Ill need to get out of bed.

So every morning I get to hear Srila Prabhupada chant Brahma Samhita ... "Cintamani ....... :

Its nectarean.

Hare Krishna! Thanks, my cell phone has mp3 player. I just checked to see if I could also do this and I can!

Until now, I have used an alarm clock on the other side of my bed so I have to get up and walk around the bed to shut it off.

In my whole life my mind just wakes up when it should

If I go to bed knowing that I need to wake up at a given time (or that someone else at home does) my mind wakes up about 5 mins before the time.

the best trick is... to go to bed early.
user [38] · 2007-08-20
Thats Paramatma waking you up. Mind is just an interface consisting of subtle matter.

Like all the other devotees I put my alarm clock on a distance from my bed. So I have to walk towards it... Otherwise Ill turn it off and go back to sleep..:P

In reference to my earlier comment - I should mention that if Im really tired then when I hear Srila Prabhupadas beautiful voice cut through the ether and ignorance in my consciousness sometimes I want to just lie in bed and listen to Brahma Samhita.

My mind thinks "Well thats sorta like Mangal-arati but horizontal" and I doze off again.

I havent found a way to make the alarm clock repeat.

There should be a button (when the alarm goes off in the morning) to snooze.
In that way it will go off again after five minutes.

I think, :)

For me, similarly to what brennan Prabhu wrote already, the best way how to wake up is to ask Lord humbly (at time when Im almost falling asleep) if He kindly could wake me up at particular time. It really works, try it and throw away your alarm clocks ;-)
user [2] · 2007-09-20
it is called the biological clock or something... only doesnt work if you are too tired.

SB 3.26.71/Vedanta sutra 3.2.8
user [29] · 2007-09-20
Yes, probably it is called like that, but Krishna with His energies is behind all biological clocks :-)
When Im too tired, it works too. But in such cases Im usually not able to get up from bed... and quickly fall asleep again. The only trick for it, as abhiram said, is to go to bed early in the evening.

Twice a week i need to get up before 4am for temple service. My alarm clock is on my mobile phone and sometimes it just doesnt work properly. its amazing how i somehow wake up in time anyway. i think its the deities that wake me. so cool.

still I just ordered this mp3 player that comes with a customizable alarm (and snooze too!)

My Guru Maharaja told us that back in the times he was a young bhakta he used to keep three alarm clocks, each one set several minutes later then the previous one and each one further away from the bed than the previous one :) I personally set the alarm in my computer, which is in a different room. Then I have to get up, open the door, walk into cold computer room (as we call it), open my eyes wide enough and focus them on the movement of the tiny black cursor, and then turn off the alarm. By that time I am sufficiently awake to go and jump into shower instead of bed ;)

Believe, this is true:
I recite Mangal Aarati before retiring(even if it is 0300h). And I am always on time to be in the Mangal Aarati. No MP3, no alarm clock and no cell phone.
