"Through the millennia, humanity has more or less consciously known that all diseases ultimately have a psychic origin and it became a "scientific" asset firmly anchored in the inheritance of universal knowledge; it is only modern medicine that has turned our animated beings into a bag full of chemical formulas."

What about karmic causes of diseases? Does anyone know any references from sadhus or shastra? I am sure I read or heard something on the topic long time ago, e.g. exsessive sex life causes skin diseases.

...disease begins in the colon, please keep your colon squeaky clean,a colon impacted with putrified waste is a sure fire way to ruin your health.

So far as you have a material body, illness will come.No matter how pure you are.But we should understand they are all bodily discomfort. We know of great Acaryas who got ill.Like Srila Prabhupad.Even though he was ill he was still a pure devotee.
Remember the four qualities of material world.
Birth
Disease
Old age
Death

I believe that in many ocassions some of us may be quite negligent regarding our health. On the excuse that we are not the body we may tend to avoid taking responsibility to look after it...

In practical terms the type of food that we consume determines our health. Lately several devotee friends have shared some experiences with illness and through some research and of course Krishnas mercy, they have been able to identify and correct the material causes of the problems. Of course, regardless of what you eat, the karma is there, but is our duty to look after this body since is the property of Krishna and one that allows us to perform service.

There is a prophecy saying that soon there will be great amount of food available, but it will be poison! This is due to the greed of the food industry,as well as the secret agenda of world depopulation. Its also ignorance of the law of nature,ie.feeding cows with slaughterhouse waste!
If the depleted uranium scare is real, soon, everthing will be contaminated! And cancer as well as other diseases will wipe out millions of people.See report about US soldiers diseases/suicides!They get a special kind of cancer, where bumps of flesh grow instantly on the body!No cure!
"Medicines" for cancer causes all hair to fall out!
Its all a huge scam!
Theres still hope if people cooperate to create self-sufficient villages, with cow protection[organic milk],which can conteract against nuclear contamination.

In our hypnotherapy course they gave their opinion on which repressed emotions caused which diseases. This is from their experience in hypnosis cases and cures:[br][br]

[*]diabetes: repressed fear
[*]cancer: repressed anger
[*]migraine, headache: not being able to take a decision that you need to
(gave example of a woman who could not tell her husband she did not want to cook her husbands secretaries lunch also every day and whose migraines disappeared when she was able to confront husband on it)
[*]pain in arm joints: repressed desire to fight
[*]pain in leg joints: repressed desire to run away

I know that certain diseases such as HIV-Aids can come from sinful activity such as illicit sex and drug use. But what about children (and adults) who contract such diseases accidentally? Such as from blood transfusions; parents or spouses.
user [157] · 2007-09-18
To Hari Bhakta Das:
Theres no such thing as "accidents"!
If a child or a baby contract a disease, its the law of karma in action. It happens all the time that we dont get reactions to our sinful activities in this life, but karma strikes in the next life,as our life is not stopped by death, but is continuous.Only prayers and positive actions can have an effect on our karmic load, and in vaisnavism, there are a few rituals that have great potential to clean karma:circumambulate the tulasi plant, chanting Maha Mantra without offense, doing service at temple, preaching etc...The intelligent devotee makes sure he performs a maximum of these positive actions,in order to insure himself of his spiritual progress, and avoid surprises!
