I am struggling right now also with this situation. No matter how clean a house might be rodents will still get in to find shelter. Getting an outdoor cat has not solved the problem of this little mouse (maybe two). I am concerned that a family of them might develop. But I will not have the cat inside the house (allergies with my wife and myself).Where do we draw the line between having a mess from rodents and exterminating them?

there are special traps that do not kill them and then you dispose of them with a free ride somewhere far far away.they consist of a metal cage with a special opening, when they enter attracted to the bait door closes.

i know some people use some kind of glue to catch them but later they kill them anyway. I dont know what to do!!!

or we can offer cheese and make a trap that kills them so they get a human body righ away!the perfect liberating machine!

THis topic is very relevant to me. Where I live if I dont get rid of mice in my house then one of the four most deadly snakes in the world may come in looking for a meal. (taipans and eastern brown snakes are common around here. see http://www.gopala.org/node/14 )So we have these little traps that the mice can go into but cant get out. They like peanut butter the best. When I catch one I put the trap in the back of my car and drive across the river and let it free on the other side otherwise theyd just find their way right back into my house.
So no killing mice and it works to get rid of them humanely.

I have tried to catch the mice with a little homemade trap but they evade it (humane of course - no death). I guess you have to be smarter than the mice. :)user [38] · 2007-08-28
"One should treat animals such as deer, camels, asses, monkeys, mice, snakes, birds and flies exactly like ones own son. How little difference there actually is between children and these innocent animals." (SB 7.14.9)From the purport it seems this refers to fields.
In some places in Eastern Europe people used to have non-poisonous snakes like grass-snakes at home for this purpose. They are better than cats since they can go after mice all the way into their holes.

In Vrndaban,as well as other cities,I wondered how rats do not bother the cloth merchants,so I asked one of them about this.He replied, showing me a little hole:every day, I feed them with a loaf of bread! And they dont do any harm!"Glue is horrible death, and should be avoided.Ahimsa traps are best.
Remember:these animals could be one of your deceased family!
