today? eclipse? where?

It happened at 2:30 am here but I forgot about it! did you see it?

We wouldnt be able to see as sky was overcast, but I thought it was inauspicious to be touched by the moonlight at the time of eclipse?

Where did you hear that? Lord Caitanya was born during a full moon eclipse. The people were bathing in the Ganges during the eclipse and chanting the holy names for purification. This Prabhupada tells us was the normal ritual on full moon eclipse nights.

I remember being told that while living in ashrama, and all the devotees drew the curtains and stayed inside during an eclipse (it was a solar one). People in India still stay inside and draw curtains
or take bath in Ganga for purification during an eclipse, which implies it is inauspicious. I dont know any shastric references however, but I havent really researched the topic.

Eclipses are considered very inauspicious in India. People throw away all their foodstuff and make a maha cleaning after one.
After the eclipse some people beg for this contaminated foodstuffs and are considered super low caste because of doing this.
I dont remember their name though.
