Free filter content for devotee parents?

Would like to know if there is a software that prevents children from being exposed to the nasties of the internet, suited to devotee parents and free if possible.

Easy install, custom made blocking and logs all traffic, pretty complete and free.
Only be careful to remember your password in case you need to uninstall for some reason.

Some DSL routers allow you to block internet access by IP, time etc which is nice.
