How do you explain celibacy to nondevotees?

They say sex is one of the pleasures of life or give you a strange look if you say...only for procreation and all that.
I try to avoid the topic altogether.

there is at least same pleasure in engaging in sex life than in making a resolution to avoid it.celibacy is making a decision to channel (magic word these days) ones whole energy to self realization.
sex is about freedom no? Can you permit me not to engage on it?
finally you can recommend this site from a devotee:

One can give an analogy of top sportsmen who avoid sex life to achieve the best results. The best result of all is to enter Krsna lila.user [19] · 2007-10-06

When one experiences a higher taste, material desires fade. Explaining this to a karmi is a process. Not so cut and dry. If the person asking the questions regarding celibacy is a canidate for becoming a devotee, then you take him through the proper steps of our philosophy as demanded by Srila Prabhupada, and he will come to understand just as you have.user [644] · 2010-10-10
Regarding Celibacy Use Your Own Intelligence and Understand as to how much one has suffered in the womb.Read Canto 5 of SB repeatedly.Read my Blog http://zaysen.blogspot.com and all your questions would be answered.
