Why do devotees become so political?

Social · asked by user [] · 2007-10-12 · 15 answers
It seems that after a few years of practicing, being senior or advanced means being political.
Why is there so much taste in this?

Prajalpa - should be translated as being political...I only accept and worship seniors who are not political.
user [191] · 2007-10-12
Namely, whom?
user [154] · 2007-10-12
There is a wise law laid down in Sastra, and the reason why Gopala Bhatta asked not to publish his name in Caitanya Caritamrita, one should not pronounce name of ones gurus even if they are not present. Having said that a few siksa or friendly relationships will include HH Giriraja Swami and HG Adipurusa Prabhu.

Prajalpa - should be translated as being nonsense talk, that is what prajalpa means, In todays Iskcon " politicial " usually means being concerned about temple/Iskcon managerial affairs, and to expect accountablity by leadership, thus they become " politicial " devotees.

Politicians are necessary to carry on the orders of the last pure devotee on this planet:he gave all instructions, which were taped and written down in books. No one should change anything in such treasure.
While the Bible was compiled centuries after Jesuss appearance, and so include many false interpretations,we still have Prabhupadas words with us,for the next 9,500 yrs.
So, issue by issue,HDGs instrucitons should be discussed and implemented,so as to make this planet a better place to live in.
Those who have ksatriya spirit should fight,so as to realise Srila Prabhupadas dream:A Krishna conscious world, with his books as guide,English as worlds universal language[to be taught to all devotees/non-devotees],stop cow killing,self-sufficiency,Maha Mantra in all towns and villages of the world!
Using all modern technologies to fulfill this dream.

It would be nice if politicians would surrender to Krishna, and keep their elected office at the same time.

Unfortunately this may take several hundred years,Todays Iskcon can barely be described as a " micro-religion ".

There are some countries where high profile leaders joined, large percent of population are now following Prabhupada in that (small) country.
user [192] · 2007-10-13
Did Prabhupada ever say " only accept and worship seniors who are not political " sounds like a concoction of the mind.
user [192] · 2007-10-13
What country is that? do you have any statistics to back that up ?
user [192] · 2007-10-13
The suspense is killing me,what country are you talking about?

I would love to retire in a land where abortion,cow-killing,casinos,brothels,liquor store and cigarettes have all been abolished by the government.

Maybe its Mauritius, where the Prime minister and other ministers attend Janmastami, where the national TV has regular Mahabharata,Ramayana or krsna Lila series at peak time,in English, where Janmastami was televised live to all the population ,celebrated by nearly all hindus of the island[two thirds of population] and where there is regular exams of Bhakti sastri, and cooking classes...
Janmastami crowd was about 100,000[population:1,300,000] for the 4 centres, with full prasadam. But most hindus go to shivalas to celebrate Janmastami,in their own way.

Still, there is slaughterhouse...McDo and KFC! and all milk is imported from Australia.

So...KC politicians are required to clean up.....Its not impossible in near future!

"Mauritius may become the 1st Krishna conscious country in the world!"said Srila Prabhupada, who visited the island in 1975,invited by the prime Minister Ramgoolam.

Social: Why do devotees become so political?

: because i think that bhaktas learn to really deliver (?) the state heads must have got to have vaisnav-tilakas to be believable after head states or something,. , hmm.. yeah proly.

Wheres ccd?

Instead of dealing with the anarthas in our own self, our mind is kindly projecting those anarthas outwards so we can see them properly and meditate on them more fully. That way we can more clearly perceive the extent of the contamination in our own self. By criticizing others our faults will be more magnified.
