a friend of mine told me he practices it but the other day i read this:

During that period of penance, the sage Kardama, by worship through devotional service in trance, propitiated the Personality of Godhead, who is the quick bestower of all blessings upon those who flee to Him for protection.

VEDA: Im not sure if this is the meaning of "modern" Kriya Yoga which abhirams friend practices these days ;-) But maybe he follows it this way, who knows...

The science of Bhakti Yoga is superior,as it connects one with the Personality of Godhead,and not to impersonal OM,the sound incarnation of God.To the bhakta yogi is revealed his personal relationship with Lord Krishna,who is a person,the Supreme person,and not an impersonal energy of sound or light,when he serves through the disciplic succession,the orders of Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita.It is joyfully performed,and in this Age of Kali,Krishna is incarnated in His Holy Names.
By dancing in kirtans,one can have all his chakras in motion,and thus get great spiritual bliss-ecstasy,through love of Krsna.the impersonal realisation of other yoga systems will only lead to the brahmajyoti,or spiritual effulgence of the Lord,and not any personal relationship to him.Bored in such inaction,he has to take birth again in the material world,meet a pure devotee,serve him and get connected with Krishna.
