Should we expect to get a taste from chanting...or not be attached to the result of our endeavour

When I posed this question to a more senior devotee he answered that Krsna will give us the taste according to the degree of our endeavour and we shouldnt be attached to the result...any more thoughts on this?

We are naturally prone to seek results from anything we do, but this works differently in KC.Sreyah and Preyah. What is poison at the beginning is nectar at the end. Just like sankirtan, book distribution or harinama.
It is very difficult to have the determination to go out, it is like poison for the false ego. But at the end of the day, you feel the nectar.
We chant out of duty, cause generally we do not have any more taste that what comes from service.
But then the combination of service and chanting makes us taste a drop of nectar and then we hanker for more.
But it is the same everyday for us, we dive in the "poison" to emerge every time more nectarine.

Yes we should expect to get a taste from chanting and should cry and beg to Krishna and holy names for them to bestow on us a taste for chanting.user [166] · 2007-10-28
