Are Farm communities meant for the Information Age?

I was wondering how do you explain that farming is viable nowadays when we have already passed the Industrial age and are into the Information Age with all its consequences.
I say this because some devotees think and preach that the solution to all problems is to create this kind of communities.

What if theres no more informations to communicate..except: disaster..chaos...death!The farm communities, situated in secure places:forests/islands etc...will then be the only places where food will be available.
The worlds karma is getting heavier and heavier...agreed?

PS.Such a community,if well managed, can be a touristic attraction, for those who are looking for real peace and alternative society:there are plenty! But visitors should be limited,so as not to disturb the village life, which will be mainly be maintained by agriculture and handicrafts,as well as Deity worship.
I like the example of the hungarian village at:

Id say that Information Age precedes economically or ecologically forced Farming Age (and a significant spread of sankirtan movement).user [29] · 2007-11-07
People cant eat information ;-) In western world are the farm communities already now ones of few places where non-contaminated food is available. Practically everything else available in "normal" shops is intoxicating and products of "modern" agriculture are poisoned. And things are getting worse and worse... Information Age is nice materialistic term which should suggest progress of civilization, but what information are today presented in media? Only those confirming horrible continuing degradation of society and which are polluting humans consciousness...user [74] · 2007-11-07
To develop spiritually, at least at some stage, peace is needed. There is a need to leave hectic society, and search out more peaceful surroundings. Maybe one need to slow down the pace of life, and let life go on slowly. When nothing happens around, it is so much easier to reflect on the crazyness of the material world and give up attachments to it. When there is no much other things going on, than time passing; chanting, reading and temple programs, suddenly sounds like a very good idea to pass that time.user [210] · 2007-11-08
Viable? Its our one hope. Farming communities should be set up, and information technology should be used to help set it up. After all, why do we earn money? because we need food, clothes and shelter? But if we have food clothes and shelter - if the economic problem is solved, then where is the need to do some nonsense computer programming which results in no welfare for mankind? In a farm community everyone exchanges services, there is no need for extra effort to earn money, because so many products from the community can be sold outside the community if needed. I am sure Krishna and mother earth will provide what the devotee lacks. The only condition is that one must be sincere. We are souls conditioned to think that unless I work for a fortune 500 company and make xyz amount of money - i cannot stay alive - i will simply die - my friends and relatives will abandon me, etc. This is not true. Just like someone who says "I have fallen in love, without this person I will surely die" - its an illusion that feels very real. We dont need to kill ourselves and work hard to earn money - the reason everyone is in this mad race for earning money is because a few powerful people in this world decided that i should enjoy, and others should be conditioned in such a way that they can help me enjoy - I can exploit their efforts and they will not realise that they never needed to work so hard to stay alive and happy. We should make Krishna conscious villages - Krishnera samsara koro.
Krishna Consciousness gives us the key to understanding why the world - a perverted reflection of the spiritual world - is the way it is. And what is the solution? Yukta Vairagya - I will not do a job which will help me distract myself from the goal of human life, but it is difficult to come out of this trap set up for the whole of mankind. Especially to help Kali invade the minds of youth, so many call centers that force you to work against your natural living cycle have been set up - work hard and that too during the night. Thus some youth is completely losing vital energy to this ghastly exploitation. We should work for a Master who is merciful and who cares about our welfare, why to serve someone who doesnt care about us? All these high tech jobs are simply to make one proud of earning, there is no good result from such engagements, unless it is used for Krishna.
