In one of the Bhagavatam lectures, the devotee who gave the class said that Krishna left Vrindavan and did his pastimes outside Vrindavan, like Mathura, Dwarka etc.

Shyamasundara Krishna stays in Vrindavan, while His expansion Vasudeva Krishna enacts His lila outside. See Caitanya Caritamrta 3.1.66-67 and Elevation to KC, ch. 5.

I think Krishna goes with Akrura to the point where he takes bath and there is where Krishnas are exchanged if you want to call it like that.

Once doing a parikrama in Vrindavana, a devotee said "If you see someone looking exactly like Krishna by your left side, do not worry about it. It is not Krishna.
(meaning the parikrama is done just by the outside of the Dham, and Krishna never leaves Vrindavana perimeter.

Hare Krishna and Hari Bol
After the departure of Lord Krishna from Vrindavan to Mathura( HE was king of Mathura), Uddhav had been visiting Vrindavan- Mathura to pursue Shrimati Radha and sakhis. It is true that the distance between Vrindavan and Mathura is little, It was not possible for Radha and Sakhis to go to Matura to meet Krishna
( refer to Bhagvatam and Padma Puran).Lord Krishna became Ranachhor( who left the battlefield) after he departed for Dwaraka( more than one thousand miles from the present standard)- refer to Padma Puran and Bhagvatam.
The above indicate that Lord Krishna did leave Vrindavan.
