Linga Form of Worship for Lord Siva

Philosophy · asked by user [] · 2008-01-17 · 2 answers
Dear Devotees,

PAMHO !!! AGTSP !!!

Why Lord Siva is worshipped in his Linga Form? What is the reason/significance of the same? Is it true that mother Durga is worshipped in yoni form? How to convince others especially from other faith who intentionally blaspheme this vedic worship that Lord Sivas Linga form is pure. I am asking this question here because, I was not able to find a complete answer as per my limited knowledge of Bhagavatam.

Looking ahead for your response.

Your humble servant,
Rahul

Thank you Veda Prabhu for ur response.

But I am specifically asking abt "Linga" worship of Lord Siva prominent in all authorised hindu temples. Unscrupulous people of other faith intentionally use this particular feature of worship of Lord Siva to blaspheme the entire vedic literature.

I was looking to have a succint sastric knowledge and purpose of this mode of worship of Lord Siva, in a way that can be explained and understood by people in general.

Your menial servant,
Rahul
