Hare Krishna, dear devotees,

do you have some photos of your home altars to share with us? I need to buy some furniture for our living room and so I would be grateful to you for some inspiration, how to arrange it in the best way for the altar.

Thank you,

ys Ondrej

Does anyone have any plans or designs or links to building a home altar from wood? or maybe a bigger design that could be scaled down in size?

I have my own home altar but I decided I need something better.

I was thinking it should be three tiers....1st) 1st or lower tier would have pictures of the Parampara Acharyas etc, 2nd) tier or middle tier would have smaller deities, shilagram etc. and 3rd) tier or upper tier would be the largest in depth and would be for the main deities. The bottom of the unit may have drawers to store deity clothing etc and unit would also have doors so you can wake the deities and put them to sleep etc.

If anyone has any plan, designs, links, PDF;s please post it

Here are some inspiring ideas for your altar. This site makes altars in Vrindavan which are designed according to traditional temple architure. They ship anywhere.

Although I couldnt see any designs with doors, Im know they would be willing to make one according to your specific requirements. (Best of all, 50% of the profit goes directly to Food for Life Vrindavan projects and the seva of the Brajbasis.) Even if you dont want to buy one but want to make your own, there are some fantastic traditional designs to take inspiration from.
