I like to travel to new temples. Has anyone ever visited this one? What is your opinion of this Temple? Thanks

Oh okay, I liked this temple very much. Bir Krishna Maharaj is the resident sannyasi there and hes pretty nice. The temple itself is a pretty cool structure, it has a dome roof with triangle windows (if memory serves me right). However, a bigger temple is in the works. The devotees are super nice too, it seems to be mostly run by female devotees which is nice for a change. The only downside is that you cant stay in the temple due to the lack of space, but if you give them a call or send them an email they should be able to help you out. Also, its kind of in the middle of nowhere so its easy to get lost- all the trees and houses look the same. The Deities, Radha-Golokananda are gorgeous! The matajis are so expert at making Their clothes and jewelry and dressing Them attractively. I hope you get a chance to go, I think youll find it quite peaceful and enlivening!user [144] · 2008-02-21

Thanks. How many devotees live in Prabhupada village? What do you like about it? What is the population of the town you live in? How far away is a major city from it? Any info would be greatly appreciated.user [265] · 2008-03-24

I really like the devotees, who are usually very mature and dedicated, and I like the place (rural setting, climate, etc.). PV is a very rural area. Closest town (12 miles away) is Madison, which is quite small but has most of the shops you need. Main towns in the area where some of the devotees work are Greensboro and Winston Salem - each is about 35 miles away from PV and their population is around 200,000 each.

One other thing I like about Prabhupada Village is that while being an Iskcon devotee community it is not subject to GBC control or management. It is 100% locally managed using basically a democratic system of votes and consensus building..user [144] · 2008-06-27
Thanks all for the info. I am going to visit Hillsborough in August.user [144] · 2008-08-28
I just got back from New Goloka in Hillsborough. Its a wonderful Temple and its filled with 1st class devotees!!!! I am seriously thinking of relocating to that area in the future. If anyone else is looking for a great Temple to visit, I highly recommend New Goloka!!!!!
