Surfing the net and avoiding porn

Sadhana · asked by user [] · 2008-02-26 · 3 answers
It seems the problem of pornography has become quite grave in the modern society. Even unconsciously, while surfing the internet, there is always a heavy chance of being subjected to pornography.

This topic is not discussed openly amongst devotees, but still, it is a significant one. For a person who has been practicing restraint, looking accidentally at a naked woman is like drinking poison. Pornography leads to loss of respect for women and for the institution of marriage. As Prabhupada once said "If milk is available in the market, what is the use of keeping a cow?", in a similar way, pornography addicts may think that it is useless to get married and take so many responsibilities when you can get access to sex for free. Having a computer seems like having a prostitute ready for your service 24hours a day. In such difficult circumstances, is it possible to totally avoid the problem ? I would request devotees to please suggest some means.

you are right. I have a filter for my children and for not having to put myself with that stuff while surfing.

a good solution for PCs is this free program:

Macintosh machines come with parental controls built in.
