Satsvarupa dasa goswami - in 1977 talks - was ISKCON in trouble? Why?

Satswarupa said back in 1977 right after Prabhupadas disappearance - And improper action would be to have doubts: '93Oh, the guru has left. Why did he leave? I don'92t understand why he left.'94 Or '93I heard he was experiencing some pain. Why didn'92t he do this or that? Why didn'92t this other thing happen?'94 Or someone may wrongly think, '93Now people say the Kuc0u7771 u7779 u7751 a consciousness movement is in trouble, and maybe they'92re right. Oh, I bet the leaders are going to fight. I bet this movement is going to fall apart.'94 These are all certainly improper responses. Why should you be in doubt? Everything is in Prabhupu257 da'92s books. Maybe you haven'92t read the books'97that'92s why you'92re in doubt. Or you are just hankering for sense gratification. When one is a neophyte devotee, he'92s often hankering for sense gratification and looking for an opportunity to leave Ku7771 u7779 u7751 a consciousness.

What he right or wrong? Was Krishna consciousness movement in trouble just because Prabhupada left the planet or because devotees were hankering for sense gratification and looking for opportunity to leave Krishna consciousness?
It looks like everytime acharya leaves trouble starts, is that the only reason?

There were signs of very serious troubles in our movement even prior to 1977. Satswarupa was just trying to put on a good show for the rank and file devotees. Too bad that no one had the courage to adress the problems openly and honestly. Instead the rot consumed a big part of the movement. As ancient Romans used to say: a fish rots from the head.user [319] · 2008-08-19
I cant understand everything you say, prabhu, but three things: *Im concerned you say devotees are "hankering for sense gratification and looking for opportunity to leave Krishna consciousness?" If you want to leave Krishna consciousness, thats not the same as leaving ISKCON, is it?
*Also dont we all hanker for lust in this world? I mean except the pure devotee.
*Also, if a fish rots from the head, excuse me, I dont mean to be confronting, but isnt that Srila Prabhupada? I mean perhaps your choice of phrase was, well, kind of worrying... I think Prabhupada is the head. Sorry, prabhu.

At the time I think it was the same thing, at least in USA. Now things have changed.
