Beta test ISKCON Media Vedic Library

Tech · asked by user [] · 2008-09-07 · 12 answers
We are currently working on a Vedic Library with books from many vaishnava acaryas, study guides and many other things to read.

Have a look at it here:

http://library.iskconmedia.com

This has not yet been announced so Pariprashnena users will be the first to know. :)

It is a work in progress so keep that in mind.

Actually that is incorrect. 90% of the content in the library are the acaryas books.

There are around 240 books in pdf format which i think is not available anywhere else. Other sections are from veda but here they are presented in a different way.

I see. I have these too (and more) but didnt make them public because of an unsure situation with copyrights.

I tried a to download one document last night and this morning, but was unable. I have a dialup connection that is pretty slow. I use a download manager thats worked well for me elsewhere. The document was about 2.5 megabytes. It started at a relatively fast speed, then slowed down a lot and finally stopped without finishing the download. I tried four or five times. Unfortunately the download cannot be resumed, requiring it to be started from the beginning if stopped. Its been a long time since Id previously seen an unresumable download.

Ill try using something else to download when I get the chance.

Looks good. Thanks. Ive had no problems downloading via broadband.

Will any of Srila Vyasadevs work eventually be listed under Vaisnava Acaryas? Ramanujacarya? Sridhar Swami?

Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 or Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 will require attribution. You need to mention authors with the license, thats all. I am not the author:-) and do not represent any publishing house that is represented:-/ I think mentioning an actual author/name is desired.
user [154] · 2008-10-13
It has a nice CC license to the front. How do you attribute it? Interesting. CCd

The name of the author is in the books themselves, but if you want them specifically to appear in each first page with the license you can get a pdf editor and change them. Once you finish you can upload them again to the server. Thank you for your help.

Archive.org says FTP is more realiable way to download the files. But its hard to find how to do it. Here is how:

Download Ftp Client: http://filezilla-project.org/download.php (They have outdone themselves amazing update, dl the exe)

Install and Launch. After this do the following..

Goto File/Site Manager/New Site/ Type:
Iskconmedia
Host:
ia311207.us.archive.org
Port (LEAVE BLANK)
Goto Advanced Tab/Default Remote Directory put this:

Press Connect.

Transfer by double clicking the file, this is a new version of filezilla, even I am inpressed at the speed.
