Order of worship

Sadhana · asked by user [] · 2008-12-18 · 12 answers
Hare Krishna,

Can someone tell me the proper order of worship? The altar has: Gaura Nitai, Radha Krishna, Baby Krishna, Jagannatha deities. And of course, Srila Prabhupada. Lord Nrsimhadeva is on His own altar.

Thanks

Do you have any preference for the order?

I have been told this. However, isnt it correct to first offer everything to Srila Prabhupada? Also, I was told by one pujari that you end with Radha Krishna.

No preference.[/quote]
If you have no preference you can follow the rules of seniority and then offer all to Spiritual Master. Or start with the Spriitual Master (asking for permission) to offer all in preference.

At the stage when you will develop a preference, you will adjust it and possibly reorganize you altar to avoid any notion of rasa bhasa. Radha-Krishna as the last is the example of preference that is based on certain realization.

Haribol,
I had a similar question when I recieved my Jagannatha deities, and got advice from our head pujari. Here is the order I was instructed to follow.
First offer to Srila Prabhupada to receive permission, then Nityananda, Gauranga, Baby Krishna, Krishna, Radharani, Baladeva, Jagannatha, Subhadra, Nrsimhadeva, then the maha to Prabhupada. I was explained that the Baby Krishna is worshiped before Krishna with Radha as he is younger, same with offering to Baladeva then Jagannatha and then Subhadra.

...my information is based on how I would offer arotik once upon a time when I was a pujari at Iskcon Vancouver, the head pujari was for many years Partha das,the standard of diety worship at that temple was and I think still is very high, however different maths may have a different standard.

"So far your question regarding Deity worship, during arati everything should be offered first to the Guru." Srila Prabhupada; Letter to: Giriraja; Los Angeles; 28 May, 1972
