Sri Vishnu, Sri Vishnu, Sri Vishnu -Offering Bhoga

Does anyone know when, where, why, how this method of the "express" offering came about? I asked one Prabhupada disciple and he said he can remember devotees doing it as early as 1970. If it is bonafide, why not say Hare Krsna 3 times?

For this age, by the grace of Lord Caitanya, we have got very easy method: simply chanting Hare Krsna. This mantra also which we uttered just now, it is said, yah smaret pundarikaksam: "Anyone who remembers pundarikaksam, Hari, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, immediately he becomes purified." Suci. Suci. Suci means purified. Sri visnu sri visnu sri visnu. Three times. So the Krsna and Visnu is the same thing. Krsna is the original person of all visnu-tattva. -Hamburg, August 27, 1969
Devotees chanted it every wedding and initiation (a lot) and took it up, since Prabhupada mentioned it in as early as 1966, it was taken as purification instead of offering mantras.

thanks ccdihave heard it of course during yajnas but I would still like to see how it became a mantra for offering bhoga.

..this is not said when offering bhoga, there are more formal prayers for that , as far as I can remember " sri vishnu " was only chanted when taking medicine, since something was being put into the body, but not something you would offer to Krishna.user [33] · 2008-12-21
It is also used as part of the purification process by dropping three drops of water on the head and saying Sri Vishnu with each drop.user [154] · 2008-12-21

It never became mantra for offering bhoga except in a mistake. Its mantra for purification.

Yes Ccd, It is certainly seems like an accident when used to offer bhoga. I guess someone just started doing it and it became popular...user [172] · 2008-12-21
The only time Ive heard of this being used is before drinking water (thats not offered). Not sure of sastric reference or "Prabhupada saids" on that one though. A good devotee to ask would be HG Hari Sauri Prabhu.user [13] · 2009-01-05
"Gaura Prabhu: When we chant '93Sri Vishnu, Sri Vishnu, Sri Vishnu'94 before taking medicine, it is not that we are offering the medicine to the Lord, but we are remembering the medicine is not all in all. Without the mercy of Lord Vishnu, medicine alone is not enough."from: http://krishnamonk.blogspot.com/2009/01/travel-journal4-24-three-dreams-philly.html
