You should keep your own machine oiled. Meaning you cant help people if you havent helped yourself. After all, we fly our own planes when we die.user [313] · 2009-03-25
Lesson: Best to carefully avoid those, who are promoting their own authority. Real authority is self effulgent, and needs no self promotion.user [131] · 2009-03-30

hahah, funny.I think that is the beauty of associating with devotees. You have to become a devotee despite the devotees.

"Associating with devotees" does not mean you expect all devotees to reach certain mark. For real association (revealing mind and such) you always have to seek those few on certain level, In that sense, "devotee association" is generally a misused term. And then, we regret "devotees". If things are seen in real perspective, there is no surprise.user [154] · 2009-04-05
You should seek association of like-minded devotees by all means and association with all devotees by means of kirtana and prasadam. The best thing I have learned is that one should not judge devotees regardless of what you think you know about them and regardless of what you think you know about your own level of advancement. It is better to think that you have no advancement then to think oneself more advanced then others. So with like-minded devotees associate closely (six kinds of exchanges of NoI) and with all other devotees by means of doing together one of the nine kinds of processes of bhakti (sravanam kirtanam smaranam padasevanam vandanam... together).
