Bhagwat Gita and India Jyotish Shastra

Philosophy · asked by user [] · 2009-03-31 · 4 answers
I keep on thinking what are lord krsnas view over Jyotish Shastra, Is it written somewhere in some epic or Purana or Ved, In todays world people are very much inclined towards Jyotish Shastra , Vaastu Shastra. They even feel If they go as per jyotish shastra they are correct, they keep jyotish upper than bhagwat gita.

If anybody has knowledge over the points like what is Jyotish Shastra, How much impact does it have over our life, Should we believe in it, or should we partially believe in it. How can we convince these kind of people towards krishna consciousness.

Please Help.

Thanks and Regards,

Jyotisa is one of vedangas. Look them up in Wikipedia. Like vastu its part of Vedic range of sciences related mainly to this world. They depend heavily on the qualification of their user. Otoh, Gita aims at transcending this world.

Lord Krsna had his Jyotish readings done, and Im going to assume he did the same with his kids.

Im pretty sure Jyotish can be dovetailed toward Krsna consciousness. After all, all it is is reading your karma.

My point is: people are very much inclined towards jyotish, numerology and their each and every action are derived from rules of astrology and numerolgy, they dont spend timing in religious activities or in krsna consciousness, they waste major part of their life in thinking of astrological pros and cons, stones, other useless calculations.

Jyotish is like a language that reads a persons karma. Youre going to get what you deserve regardless of if you know about it or not. Jyotish allows a person to see what good karma he has so he can spend it properly. If you use it for material pursuits, itll be ultimately pointless as acquired material prosperity is temporary.

Everything needs to be dovetailed to transcending this material world and attain God consciousness, which is blissful and most importatly, permanent.
