Mrdanga repair method?

Other · asked by user [] · 2009-10-05 · 2 answers
I was just wondering about a mrdanga repair method.

I have three clay mrdangas. Two of them have holes on the big end of the drum. I heard that you might be able to use a patch of the leather from one of the drums with a hole in it to patch up the other that has the hole? Is this possible, and how would i go about doing it? what kind of glue, or a glue type solution would i need to use?? please let me know what you think.

ive never heard or seen anything like that. here in bengal they would repair a mrdanga like that by replacing the broken head.

anyway, where would you get the leather to patch the hole? if youre able to get a small piece of ahimsa leather, you should be able to get a slightly larger one to replace the thing, no?

Just order spare heads from devotees going to india for Kartika (how can you patch a drum?) just as phanisvara said, just get the whole thing and I suggest already with blk masala puri on it:-)
