Hare krishna,
according to my knowledge Upanishads are called sruti: every word unchanged eternally.
and there are 108 upanishads. But some upanishads contain extraneous glorification of demigods.
e.g. ganapati upanishad.

How come it is there?

The vedic literatures are purnam ,complete because they eminate from the supreme whole.Hence it is only right that they deal with the different mentalities of those attempting to approach the devine ....in all of its aspects. As such the demigods like ganapati are also manifestations of krishnas energys.Such worship of universal controllers are generally intended for those who have desires of a nature which sometimes necesitate krishnas isvaraservants to deal with them directly.Because krishna is our loving wellwisher he is only interested in providing opportunities which free us,liberate us....not keep us in maya.Maya is deemed to bethat which is not.In other words our desire to lord over the material world for personal and extended personal benefit is not appreciated by krishna because it fails to give him satisfaction..Usually such worship is for those unable to appreciate Krishna and his diverse energies.Hence such worship leads them to be further entrenched, seemingly content and settled in illusion ,that this material world is infact their true home,,,,,when infact this is a miss -truth. Hence Demigod worship entangles them further in maya .Rather than being a liberating influence. Many times they be come more encumbered and illusioned in trying to enjoy the senses,However at least they are attached to the vedic culture so after many lifetimes they gain eventual liberation.Once they take shelter of an advanced servant....hopefully a vaisnava.Because the worshipers are not fully mature in their understandings ,Krishna provides intermediate isvaras to appease the desires of the cnditioned souls intent on their own veiws.Hopefully this may help.
